Book Review : AND THE MOUNTAINS ECHOED

This is a book from the well-known writer khaled Hosseini who mostly writes about the disastrous phase in the history of Afghanistan and the nearby areas and how these years have affected the lives of people living there in a horrendous way!
For those who haven't read any of his books, he has a special knack for telling stories with such stark realization to the mind; we get spell-bound and grief-stricken at the very same instant. The best part about his stories is that along with the art of story telling, he makes us learn certain life lessons with every character that he has established in the story.
No one can remain untouched by his stories as we tend to relate ourselves with one or the other character. It seems as if a little part of our own life's story has been taken and rewired into words by him. I have read all three of his books and my favorite will always and always be -The Kite Runner!

Anyways, enough about the background and other things.... trust me I can keep talking about these three books in general! :p

'And The Mountains Echoed' is a great book with many strong characters and written over more than 60 years of time. The book does great at capturing your interest as the author part by part tells you the story of people that are linked together by time and also by relations. The book starts with a mind winding story that is sure to keep you thinking for a while! And the message is evident -You have to cut a finger in order to save a hand!
This lesson is well explained throughout the book as how a single decision changed numerous lives. In general,  it holds true for everyone's life that a very important decision can alter the whole course of our life. You may regret or be satisfied with your decision but one thing is for sure -you'll learn from it!
This book has done exactly that! However, the story becomes a tad bit boring in between and you may want to stop reading it. This part lingers on for about 50-60 pages and then the story picks up his pace well. In the end my heart gave small gasps as the siblings who were torn apart in the beginning of the story met after all but their relationship could never be the same now! That -broke my heart completely! But since the book has a happy ending -Khaled Hossseini always manages to do that -I'm with happy tears!

It's a must read guys!
